Let me tell you my story and the beginnings of Rapid Reply:
I was born and raised in London, UK to working-class parents. Growing up in a low-income neighbourhood I know didn’t want to struggle with money as an adult. So it wasn’t long as a teenager I started reading books about famous entrepreneurs. People like Richard Branson, Bill Gates, John D. Rockefeller and others.
Entrepreneurship would be my way out of living paycheck to paycheck like so many people around me. I didn’t know much about business, but I quickly learned the importance of creating a fantastic customer experiences and sales, when my first business bombed in less than a year. Memorialized in this Techcrunch article.
I then got a job at Facebook in 2008, working in the advertising sales operations team. I finally started to learn about sales. After 4 years there, I quit and started my next company. A B2B SaaS that was acquired in 2017.
Along the way I tried to teach what I had learned, mostly with the fine folks in the MicroConf/Indie Hacker community. After exiting I created my next company. This was a marketing agency that scaled to $1M+ annual revenue with 3 employees. Now I continue to build stuff I care about, like Rapid Reply.
Throughout my journey as a founder, I always battled with time. It was my most precious resource (once my companies started making some money 😉). I always found the leapfrogs in my business came from speaking to customers and building, not “busywork”.
So now I’ve created Rapid Reply, so business owners can focus more of their energy on growing their business vs emails. Hopefully, they also escape living paycheck to paycheck.
